I’ve been informed the Directory of Article Directories resource page will be updated soon - it’s been around for a while and is manually edited (albeit infrequently). You’ve probably seen it in the past or, since you already have 800 directories on your list, already have most or all of the directories it features.

But be sure to also check the ‘niche’ directories too (if you’re not already doing so) and submit articles to them as well as what’s commonly considered the top article directories.

SEO-wise, it’s very good to get an inbound link (ie. the one you’ve placed in your submitted article’s author resource box) from a article directory website that is specific to the same theme as the topic of your article.

For instance, if you are writing an article related to dogs, in addition to submitting to the top directories like Ezinearticles.com , check to see if there are any niche article directory websites that feature ONLY dog or pet articles. Google likes inbound links from similarly themed websites and going that route also places your article in front of a targeted audience who is directly interested in what you’ve written about. So a win win situation.

Another tip I read recently is to cionsider writing about very popular topics, like health care or making money online, even if the website you’re promoting in your author resource box has nothing to do with that subject matter.

On the surface, that advice contradicts what I suggested in the tip above (ie.article on theme with where it’s submitted), but it can be a good way to mix up the inbound links and spread them far and WIDE, since those topics are in high demand (because they are big money makers) - ie tons of bloggers, ezine owners, etc may use your article as content, thus getting your link in front of a lot of their readers as well as lots of inbound links.
