Inglorious basterds torrent?
I am writing an article about software piracy for the school paper, and I was trying to use ‘Inglorious Basterds’ as an example.
Unfortunately, the movie came out on the 15th (9 days ago) and all the notable torrents are several months old. (There are lots of minor torrents, but they appear to be spam or unverified.) I was under the impression torrents came out within hours of the DVD release, and with such a popular movie this seems like a given. Is it possibly video piracy isn’t as bad as we’ve been led to believe?
Well considering that income from cinemas has increased steadily since 2002, it would seem that it isn’t as much of a problem as the entertainment industry says it is. But we all knew that already.
I think the movie industry has handled the file sharing problem a lot better than the music industry has, which has helped their PR instead of wrecked it. This means more customers.
Also, a lot of people are just downloading movies to see if they are worthy of going to the cinema and paying money to see them or not.
As for items already released on DVD, they are always available on torrents or newsgroups shortly after release….same with Bluray. Usually they are stripped of the extra content tho so people will still buy the DVD (or Bluray) if they like the movie that much.
Personally, I feel that file sharing is really a good advertising medium. The music industry totally dropped the ball on this one. They could have made a killing by using P2P as a tool for promoting music. But instead they shot themselves in the foot with it and made everyone hate em…even artists.

Actually I have a HD copy, I also downloaded it like 2 or 3 weeks ago.. English version. . I got it from vuze

No, video piracy happens more than you realize. Oddly enough, sometimes, the torrent-makers can somehow acquire a movie far in advance of its public release date, even occasionally before it has even been finished, in which there is one example, the Wolverine Origins movie which came out a while back to the torrents without the special effects added in, which is bizarre and for all I know, unheard of for any major movie to be illegally released so early in its making.

Depends where you go. I can usually find full DVD rips of things weeks before the actual retail release.

I agree with the first answerer totally. I know for sure the profits from cinemas has been increasing.
I am one who checks out movies by torrents before I use my money to see them in a cinema. If I didn’t do that I wouldn’t ever go to cinemas because I have been burned before by movies that sucked and I felt like I was cheated.
