Article Writing Software

I need to write a newspaper article for science and it needs to be separated into columns, much like a newspaper. The only program I have besides wordpad is Angel Writer. Can I use this program to do so? Thanks to anyone who gives an answer. It is appreciated!
Do you need winzip to access openoffice.org?

It is a free ware version of Microsoft Office 2003 and is completely free to use for home use.

There is no harm , the download is safe and used by millions of users.

The application has:

Open Word
Open Excel
Open Sideshows
Open Publisher

I recommend you make use of Publisher
